The MCSWCD responds to a variety of requests for services by county residents and municipalities, including drainage assistance and erosion control.

Subdivision Plan Review

Upon request from municipalities or the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYS DEC), subdivision plans are reviewed for potential impacts to water resources.

Municipal Stormwater Management Assistance

MCSWCD assists municipal staff with stormwater management concerns such as construction site erosion control, stormwater ponds, stream bank erosion and drainage.

Mapping Resource Services

Approximately 120 landowners and consultants request copies of aerial photos and natural resource maps each year.

Construction Site Inspections

In collaboration with the NYS DEC and the municipalities of Monroe County, we conduct construction site inspections and respond to citizens’ complaints in Monroe County for compliance with Phase II regulations for the State Pollution Discharge Elimination System (SPDES).

Landowner Consultations

Our technicians meet with landowners to discuss issues such as drainage concerns and techniques for improving backyard wildlife habitat.
